Caravans
There are many different types of motorhomes currently on the market ranging from simple campervans to much more elaborate vehicles that incorporate a variety of different features and fittings into their design. In America motorhomes are especially popular, where they are often referred to as RV's, which stands for recreational vehicle. Many of the motorhomes commercially available in America are extremely large and expensive. These very large and elaborate vehicles are uncommon in other countries, particularly European countries where the roads tend to be smaller and thus are unable to accommodate such large vehicles.
More and more motorhomes are being designed to include additional features, which can sometimes be quite luxurious. Most motorhomes will feature bathroom and kitchen facilities as standard, but some models will incorporate more elaborate facilities similar to those found in a normal home. Although these additional comforts are often a bonus for the owners of the motorhome including all these additional extras in a vehicle can have draw backs, notably the fact that fuel economy will be severely affected by the additional weight. Motorhomes are not particularly economical vehicles at the best of times, so increasing the load they carry will ensure that the already poor fuel economy takes a turn for the worst. There are also many other expenses associated with the running of motorhomes such as supplying gas bottles for the cooking facilities and properly maintaining the plumbing and waste tanks for the toilets.
